Williams Sonoma and Me!

That's what the manager of our local Williams Sonoma store said to me one Monday afternoon in early February. Why was I there? Well, I dropped my iphone the day before, out of my back pocket, as I was changing into my riding breeches to head to the barn and the face was shattered! I was shattered. Ugh!

I made the appointment with the genius bar and headed to our Walden Galleria Mall that gloomy afternoon. I went to the right place but had to wait at least an hour for a complete download or backup or whatever they call it so what to do? Aaahhhh.....the best news of this tale of woe. Williams Sonoma is right next door! What a great place to hang out for an hour indeed.

Making small talk the manager learned I loved to bake and was seeking a 2/3 cup measuring cup for baking my p.b.Rovers. More small talk ensued and that's the question posed to me. I was honored and delighted and said yes!

Cut to yesterday................Class Day!

I brought some of my products, copies of a yummy 3 ingredient recipe, samples of the treats made from this 3-ingredient recipe .... i.e., the finished product if-you-will, some marketing collateral and best of all my Christmas present from my favorite 2-leg...a Williams Sonoma apron he had customized with my Four Legs logo! Who knew how handy that would be?!

I was told the class sold out (25 people had signed up and a few more had to be turned away)....yippee and yikes! I felt I was ready, however, and promptly at 10am, the doors opened and my class came in, some with notebooks and pens and others with a friendly expecting smile and chatter.

I don't know why in the world my eyes are closed in this photo but at least I'm smiling!

I had to pinch myself...do you know how much I love Williams Sonoma?! I took classes there 20 years ago and learned SO much. It's the reason I can make amazing homemade pasta, the best possible cinnamon buns and the reason I use my Cuisinart food processor, literally, LITERALLY, every single day! (Usually multiple times a day!).

We made Pumpkin Peanut Butter Treats:

a l/2 cup of crunchy peanut butter (it has to be Jiff as far as I'm concerned)

a cup of pumpkin puree and

1 3/4 cup of flour, which you add a l/4 cup at a time until you get the right consistency of dough.

Wah Lah - that's it. You can bake them slowly to become crispy at 300 for 45 minutes or more or you can bake them at 350 for 12 minutes and they are soft and chewy. What does your four leg like?

The entire store smelled so wonderful.....an aromatic pumpkin/peanut butter, mouthwatering scent.

Everyone that attended was so kind, so polite and so interested. What more could I ask for. I learned about their four legs and we shared a passion not only for animals but for baking and best of all - our love of Williams Sonoma stores and products!
